About the Journal | Journal of Co-operative and Business Studies (JCBS)

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Co-operative and Business Studies provides a platform for discussions among scholars and co-operative practitioners to increase understanding of new and emerging paradigms toward modern co-operative theory and practices. In particular, we focus on the co-operative sector (producers, distributors, consumers, housing, workers, agricultural activities, savings and credit undertakings, co-operative and micro-insurance, fishing, mining, and other firms), and other sectors within the “associative economy” including small businesses, mutual funds, microfinance, building societies, community-based activities, and member-based organisations. The journal is bi-annual, and publishes high-quality research-based articles, policy debates, review articles, and book reviews.

Manuscript Review Process

The review process used by the Journal of cooperative and Business Studies (JCBS) is a double-anonymous peer-review, which means both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the process. The submitted manuscripts to this journal will be peer-reviewed by at least three expert reviewers. The reviewers give scientifically valuable comments on improving the contents of the manuscript. Two to Four weeks is required for reviewers to accomplish one round of the review process. Then the editor or editorial board considers the feedback provided by the peer reviewers and make a final review prior to the decision of whether to not or publish the manuscript.

Muniscript Editing

The Editorial Office of the JCBS shall not take any responsibility for the contents of articles published and that all such responsibility shall lie with the author(s). The opinions expressed in the articles are solely of the author(s) and the JCBS may not agree with such opinions in part or in full. However, Editors of the JCBS have responsibilities towards the authors who provide the content of the journal, reviewers who comment on the suitability of manuscripts for publication, readers of the journal and the academic community, the owners/publishers of the journals, and the public as a whole as expressed in the Journal’s guidelines.

Any members of the editorial office should require disclosure of any conflicts of interest. In order to establish and maintain high-quality Journal content, editors have full responsibility for editorial decisions on each individual manuscript. Therefore it is in this context, the editorial office of the JCBS essentially is responsible for what appears in the Journal.

Article Processing and Publication fees

JCBS does not charge manuscript processing or publication fees. Hence, this Journal is an open access platform where academicians, researchers, scholars and practitioners disseminate, share and discuss findings of their current experiences, research and developments.

Plagiarism

JCBS has devised a plagiarism policy, that 10% of plagiarism level is admissible in any submission to the journal. It is more convenient to submit Turnitin report while submitting paper to the journal. However, the Journal editor will also test the plagiarism level of every submitted manuscript by using Turnitin software.

Archiving

The Journal of cooperative and Business Studies (JCBS) is archived in Internet archive utilising Open Journal System, and MoCU Institutional Repository system to create a permanent archiving system of the journal for the purposes of preservation and restoration.

Repository

The Journal of cooperative and Business Studies (JCBS) allows authors to deposit versions of their work in an institutional or other repository of their choice. The author is allowed to use and reposit its own published work, by downloading it from the journal website; however, no modifications such as article’s reformatting or repaginating are allowed. Additionally, the JCBS provides repository within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) open-source software application for the following versions:

Submitted version – reposited in OJS, but not publicly available
Accepted version (Author Accepted Manuscript) – reposited in OJS, but not publicly available
Published version (Version of Record) – reposited in OJS, and publicly available – open access

Terms of License

The Journal of cooperative and Business Studies (JCBS) is licensed under Creative Commons (CC BY-NC), registered with Tanzania Library Services Board. The Tanzania Library Services Board also ensures that published articles are collected, processed and preserved as a permanent national heritage for contemporary and future use.

Copyright terms

Material submitted to the JCBS must be original and not published or submitted for publication elsewhere. That, any author submitting a manuscript infers that the submitted work has not been published earlier (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, or thesis), and that such manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The publications by the JCBS are open access and freely available to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt, provided the original work and source is appropriately acknowledged and cited. Although publishing with us means allowing the articles to be re-used and re-distributed without restriction, as long as the original work is correctly cited, but the originality of the published work, contents and its authenticity rest solely to be the responsibility of the authors. This means that authors publishing with the JCBS retain the copyright to their work.
